The killer assaulted them. She attacked. Daevic fell backwards as she ripped the hardened assasin to shreds, slurping his blood and organs.
Daevic scooted back using his legs to push himself. His pants tugged as the lower waist got snagged on something. The stone floor was cold but the dust made it feel soft and inviting. He scooted a few more feet until his back hit a wall.
She dropped from the alcove above, landing in a position so that she looked like a frog. She leaned forward onto her knees, her hands making a small puff as they hit the ground. She crawled toward him on all fours, very slowly. Rocks scraped under her knee but she didn't notice. She got closer and began to raise on of her arms.
She was ready for this part. Ready for him to react. She expected him to flee or knock her arm away. She was surprised that he wasn't screaming. He had, after all, seen the monster that she really was.
But she loved him.
Her hand came closer to him. She was crawling very slowly. He noticed that her eye were no longer the onyx color they were before, instead replaced by what looked like ruby.
She involuntarily licked her lips. The incredible void in her chest told her that she would never know happiness. Some of the dark crimson was replaced by a pale pink but there was still the illusion of the appearance of a wash of lipstick on her face.
Deciding he was paralyzed with fear she leaned closer, hoping to touch him one last time. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she made contact with his soft skin.
She froze, waiting for him to react. A look of utter sadness on her pearl face.
